The US Supreme Court has demolished the Voting Rights Act. And all across the South, Republicans are moving with abandon to gerrymander states like Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

For many, this feels like a hopeless moment.

I stopped by one of my favorite shows, WUNC's "Due South" in North Carolina, to talk about the story, give it some context, and (hopefully) suggest there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
